Studies on lodging in wheat in relation to tallness of wheat genotypes, their mixed culture and nitrogen fertilization

In trials in 1972-4 with dwarf wheat Moti (3-gene dwarf) and Sonalika (1-gene dwarf) and tall NP 824, effects of plant ht. particularly the length of the 1st and 2nd internodes, N rates in the range 0-180 kg/ha, pure and mixed stands of the 3 in 1:1:1 ratio and NW-SE and NE-SW row directions on lodging were investigated. Lodging in NP 824 increased with the increasing N rates from 2.5 to 25.8% in 1972-3 and from 6 to 15% in 1973-4.
