Studies on nature and magnitude of genetic parameters estimated in the original and advanced generations of certain Sorghum hybrids

Forty-five crosses from a 10 X 10 diallel, combining geographically diverse varieties, were studied in the F1, F2 and F3 generations. Grain yield, days to flowering, plant height, lengths of panicle and primary branch, grain size and 100-grain weight were found to be highly heritable. Additive genetic variance decreased in successive generations, though considerably less than nonadditive variance.
