Studies on new rootstocks for pear in the genus Pyrus communis L

In a trial of 80 seedling rootstocks all grafted with Williams, marked differences were observed in fruit yield per scion ratio of yield to the cross-section area of the trunk, and vigour. The most vigorous stocks were RV152 and F12bis 194; the highest yields were on F12bis 194 and F4.7 (the latter conferring little vigour).
