Studies on night cooling treatments for tomato seedlings in summer. I. Effect and method of cooling treatment

Studies on night cooling treatments for tomato seedlings in summer. I. Effect and method of cooling treatment

Research Bulletin of the Aichi Ken Agricultural Research Centre, B Horticulture (10): 8-14

Tomato seedlings were grown under glass with night temperatures of 13 deg , 18 deg or 23 deg C at various times during the growth cycle. Growing at a low night temperature promoted flowering, caused the first flower truss to develop low on the plant, shortened the internodes, increased early yields and reduced the amount of malformed fruit.
