Studies on some aspects of interrelationship of leaf and root nutrition of plants under the influence of light of different spectral composition

Effects of red, blue and green light of 4100 erg/cm2 for 8 h on ion absorption, chlorophyll contents and accumulation of organic compounds (C contents) by leaves and roots of 8-day-old etiolated oat seedlings were determined. Different light spectra had no effect on C contents in leaves and middle parts of the roots. Blue light increased C contents by 28% in the absorbing zone of the roots. The uptake of K and Ca was highest under blue light, P under white light and Mg under red light.
