Studies on some tissue culture strains of three Panax species as possible sources of stimulants

Various root and shoot tissue culture strains of 3 Panax spp. grew well on Murashige and Skoog basal medium supplemented with 3% sucrose, 80 mg/l inositol, 500 mg/l casein hydrosilate, 1 mg/l kinetin and 2 mg/l NAA. Most vigorous tissue growth and highest glycoside fraction content were shown by P. ginseng and P. quinquefolium root strains and P. japonicum shoot and root strains.
