Studies on target spot of sorghum

Plant Protection Bulletin, Taiwan 20(3): 283-290

The disease, caused by Helminthosporium sorghicola, has become serious in Taiwan since 1972, usually appearing in May during the heading stage. Ammonium was more suitable than nitrate as the sole nitrogen source for mycelial growth in vitro, and lactose and starch the most suitable carbon sources. Opt. temp. for mycelial growth was 24 deg C and for conidial germination 20 deg.
