Studies on the biology and population dynamics of Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms in Sudan

Studies on the biology and population dynamics of Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms in Sudan

Proceedings 5th EWRS International Symposium on Aquatic Weeds, Amsterdam: 407-414

In growth chamber experiments, the formation of Eichhornia crassipes daughter plants increased with increasing air temp. (25/20 deg C to 40/25 deg C day/night) and RH (15/40% to 75/95%). At various locations in the Sudan between Malakal and Jebel Aulia, plant production reached a max. of 2.7 daughter plants/wk, though growth and propagation were dependent on site conditions and time of year.
