Studies on the bionomics, ecology and behaviour of the ash bark beetle, Leperisinus varius F. (Col., Scolytidae)

The bionomics, ecology and aggregation behaviour of Leperisinus varius (F.) in the south-west of the German Federal Republic were studied from 1975 to 1977. At least 80% of the beetles in this region were fully developed by late autumn. The main flight period of the adults lasted only a few days and occurred at temperatures above 16 deg C. The first eggs were laid 5-12 days after the beginning of the flight period.
