In 11 scented and 4 normal rice cv., significant differences in lipid contents were found between glutinous and non-glutinous rice and among non-glutinous Oleic acid content was higher and linoleic acid content lower in scented than in normal Contents of myristic acid, palmitic acid and linoleic acid were higher and contents of oleic acid lower in glutinous than in non-glutinous Significant correlations were found between the degree of flavour and oleic acid content (r = 0.605), oleic acid:linoleic acid ratio (r = 0.740) and linoleic acid content (r = 0.792).
