Studies on the cucurbit powdery mildew - III. Varietal response of some cultivated cucurbits to Sphaerotheca fuliginea

Studies on the cucurbit powdery mildew - III. Varietal response of some cultivated cucurbits to Sphaerotheca fuliginea

Indian Phytopathology 31(1): 93-94

Plants of 5 varieties of Benincasa hispida, 5 of Citrullus vulgaris, 21 of Cucumis melo, 4 of C. melo var. momordica, 6 of C. melo var. utilissimus and 8 of Lagenaria leucantha were inoculated with five isolates of S. fuliginea and grown in the greenhouse and the field. All varieties of B. hispida were resistant. The C. vulgaris varieties Tinda Delhi and Gourd Tinda were resistant in the greenhouse; a more resistant reaction occurred in the field than in the greenhouse in all varieties.
