Studies on the development of fertility traits in female cattle

In this review, mainly of the authors' own work, consideration is given to the effect of (1) intensity of rearing on age at sexual maturity and calving interval, (2) age at 1st calving on performance in the 1st lactation, (3) calving interval on dairy performance, (4) crossing of beef and dairy breeds on pregnancy duration, (5) sex of calf and birth type on pregnancy duration, and (6) genotype of dam on plasma oestrogen levels during pregnancy.
