Studies on the effect of sulphur dioxide on perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) 1. Characteristics of fumigation system and preliminary experiments

Studies on the effect of sulphur dioxide on perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) 1. Characteristics of fumigation system and preliminary experiments

Journal of Experimental Botany 30(116): 485-493

The characteristics of a wind tunnel fumigation system in which plants can be exposed to air pollutants under controlled conditions over prolonged time periods and at near ambient wind speeds are described. Preliminary experiments exposing perennial ryegrass to 650, 700 and 2600 mu g SO2/m3 showed the consistency of performance of the system and the lack of correlation in relative response of individual clones to acute and chronic fumigation.
