Studies on the epidemiology of babesiosis in Co. Meath

Data on the prevalence in 1976 of bovine babesiosis in Co. Meath, Ireland, obtained from veterinary practice daybooks, from questionnaires and from farm visits are tabulated. The numbers of clinical cases recorded were 345, 572 and 110, respectively, and the estimated percentage incidences (cattle population 30 000) were 4.0, 4.1 and 5.0. The total numbers of deaths from the disease were 127 according to the questionnaire and 255 from the farm visits.
