In rice Honenwase, temp. in sunlight was highest in the upper part of the crop canopy, but in cloudy conditions the temp. difference was small and temp. tended to be highest at the bottom of the canopy. In sunlight there was a negative correlation between av. temp. in the canopy and LAI, and a positive relation between max. air temp. and LAI.
