Studies on the increased yield of rice in a tobacco field

In field trials rice was given 60 or 100 kg N/ha applied in 4 or 5 split dressings. Brown rice yields were 4.53-4.84 t/ha with 60 kg N and 4.91-5.13 t with 100 kg N compared with 3.54 t without N. The number of reproductive tillers/hill was higher with most of N applied as side-dressings than with most of the N applied as a basal dressing. Yield increased with increasing plant DM wt. at earing.
