Application of 60 kg N, 40 kg P2O5 and 40 kg K2O or 2, 3 or 4 times these rates were made to 8 rice including (a) 1 native cv., (b) 2 from Japan, (c) 3 improved japonica and (d) 2 japonica X indica Internodes and stems were shorter in (d) than in other and as fertilizer rate increased internodes elongated in all except Suweon 258 from group (d). At heading leaves of (d) were more erect than those of other in which leaves drooped with high rates of fertilizer.
