Studies on the oxidative enzymes of rice in relation to soil moisture stress

Studies on the oxidative enzymes of rice in relation to soil moisture stress

Indian Agriculturist 21(3): 181-186

During investigations of the nature of drought resistance in 3 rice cv., 3 oxidative enzymes were isolated and their activity measured. Under soil moisture stress, specific activity of catalase was fairly constant in the leaves and roots of the drought-resistant (a) Lalnakanda-41, while it increased in the drought-susceptible (b) Co. 13. Under normal conditions (a) showed min. peroxidase activity, while in (b) the specific activity of peroxidase was higher.
