The course of acute enzootic paramphistomiasis in calves in the lower Volga region

The course of local outbreaks of acute paramphistomiasis caused by Gastrothylax crumenifer and Liorchis scotiae in calves on various farms in the Lower Volga region, USSR, is described. Acute enzootics were recorded every 4 to 5 years and, on one farm, involved 320 yearlings, 278 of which died or had to be slaughtered between the end of June and December 1970. The enzootic was divided into stages.
