36 German Black Pied (GBP), 30 Holstein-Friesian X GBP and 58 German Black Pied Dairy (GBPD) bulls were housed individually, and were fattened to 350 or 400 kg live weight. For males fattened to 350 kg body weight, the daily consumption of FU averaged 3526, 3543 and 3532 for the 3 groups resp., body weight at 15 mth of age 459.6, 446.0 and 443.7 kg, body weight at the end of fattening 503.0, 508.0 and 504.7 kg, daily gain 1011, 963 and 951 g, and duration of fattening 379, 402 and 410 days (GBPs v others, P<0.05%).
