The performance of certain preemergence grass herbicides as applied postemergence alone and in combination with broadleaf herbicides on soybean

In trials in soybeans, alachlor at 2.4 kg/ha, metolachlor 1.8 kg, diethatyl 2.4 kg and diclofop-methyl 1.5 kg applied at the V2 stage when annual grasses were 5 cm high gave control as good as that obtained pre-em. The broad-leaved weed herbicides bentazone and dinoseb plus or minus naptalam, applied separately or together with the grass herbicides, did not affect the post-em. control of grasses. Diethatyl and butam each at 2.4 kg/ha were injurious when applied at the V1 and V4 stages.
