Tolerance of established alfalfa to various herbicides

Tolerance of established alfalfa to various herbicides

Proceedings of the 32nd Annual Meeting of the Southern Weed Science Society: 39

Several herbicides were evaluated in lucerne as dormant treatments. Paraquat at 0.25 kg/ha and dinoseb 1.7 and 3.4 kg/ha applied in March were tolerated by the lucerne but were severely injurious when applied to actively growing plants in April. The amine formulation of dinoseb was not as damaging as the phenol; the amine was also more selective on seedling lucerne plants sown in Sept. and sprayed in Dec. However, even a 0.8-kg rate of the dinoseb salt caused damage to the seedlings.
