This case study of agrarian socialism in Tanzania gives information on rural conditions and inequalities, the co-operative movement, and the development of Ujamaa policy. It describes settlement operations and the creation of Ujamaa villages, made up of peasants living and working together as a rural community. It also discusses social participation, the organization of agricultural labour and other questions.
