Application of 50, 75 and 100 kg N/ha to dwarf wheat Sonalika grown in 1975-7 gave av. grain yields of 2.73, 2.91 and 3.29 t/ha, resp. Irrigations scheduled at cumulative pan evaporation (CPE) values of 130, 100, 70 and 40 gave yields of 2.38, 2.77, 3.13 and 3.63 t/ha, resp.; the values for water use efficiency were 13.8, 12.7, 15.8 and 9.5 kg/ha mm, resp., in 1975-6 and 13.8, 11, 6.9 and 6.4 in 1976-7. The seasonal water requirement was in the range 270-286 mm with irrigation at 130 mm CPE and 451-558 mm with irrigation at 40 mm CPE.
