'Sexual confusion' test against the vine moths Lobesia botrana Den. et Schiff. and Eupoecilia ambiguella Tr

In 2 tests in vineyards in France, in which the pheromone of Lobesia botrana (Denis & Schiff.) (E-7,Z-9 DDA ((7E,9Z)-7,9-dodecadienyl acetate)) was released, the numbers of males caught in traps baited with females were reduced by 84-99% but the number of inseminated females and larvae was not reduced at all during the first generation (April-May) and only by about one third in the second generation (July). The reductions were greatest in isolated vineyards.
