11. The Kano River Project, Nigeria: the impact of an irrigation scheme on productivity and welfare

Rural development in tropical Africa: 281-305

The Kano River Project is a large-scale, capital-intensive irrigation scheme designed to cover an area of 58 000 acres in Kano State, Nigeria. The project comes under the authority of the Hadejia-Juma'are River Basin Development Authority, and is the first of several such schemes which will eventually cover 146 000 acres in Kano State.
