2,4-Diamino-3-methylbutanoic acid, a novel amino acid in root nodule hydrolysates from Lotus tenuis

2,4-Diamino-3-methylbutanoic acid, a novel amino acid in root nodule hydrolysates from Lotus tenuis

Phytochemistry 20(8): 1853-1855

The novel amino acid 2,4-diamino-3-methylbutanoic acid was identified in nodules formed by 2 strains of Rhizobium bacteria on L. tenuis roots. Retention time measurements on a Chirasil-Val capillary column suggest it is present as the (2R,3S)-enantiomer.
