3. Australia's changing rural geography

3. Australia's changing rural geography

The process of rural transformation: Eastern Europe, Latin America and Australia: 42-67

This chapter examines the way in which the geography of rural Australia has changed in the last few years, the areas where change has taken place and the underlying reasons. The term "rural transformation" has misleading implications when applied to Australia, as only in limited areas have there been abrupt and conspicuous changes in the rural landscape, economy, or demography in the past decade or so.
