59Fe and 65Zn as indicators of the intensity of root activity of plants

65Zn and 59Fe were applied into holes between the rows of wheat and barley. At the end of the vegetative growth period the uptake of 59Fe and 65Zn by above-ground parts of wheat from the top 20-cm soil layer was 73 and 68%, resp., and from the 30-40 soil layer was 10 and 15%.
