The effects of Bacillus sphaericus, a strain of which was isolated in 1974 from dying larvae of Culex quinquefasciatus Say (pipiens quinquefasciatus) in Jakarta, Indonesia, and cultured in the Institut Pasteur in Paris, France, was tested in the laboratory at Bouake, Ivory Coast, against 4th-instar larvae of Aedes aegypti (L.), A. albopictus (Skuse), A. caspius (Pall.) C. pipiens L., Anopheles gambiae Giles and A. stephensi List.
