A break with the past: priority to agriculture

A break with the past: priority to agriculture

Europe Outremer (606): 13-16

The agricultural sector in Gabon accounts for only 10% of the value of total production and 4% of GDP. Food is imported, cultivated land accounts for only about 0.5% of the total country and the rural population is few in number and scattered. Details on production, especially during the period 1977-1979, are provided for cereals, fruits and vegetables, cocoa (the main export crop), coffee, sugar cane, and for stock-raising and fishing.
