A camera and interpretation system for assessment of forest regeneration

Aerial photography with aerocolour negative film at scales from 1:200 to 1:400 was found to be most suitable for assessment of coniferous forest regeneration above 30 cm in ht. in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. A Honeywell radar altimeter was used to measure aircraft ht. (10-600 m), giving accurate ( plus or minus 3%) scale control.
