A combination system of methods for the control of weeds on rice fields

Aktual' nye voprosy bor' by s sornymi rasteniyami;: 125-133

See also WA 27, 2137 and 28, 62. Barnyardgrass and clubrushes reduce rice yields by 10-50%. The economic threshold justifying control practices was 20 plants/m2 for Echinochloa spp. and lesser populations could be controlled at the 1- to 2-leaf stage by flooding. Cultural control is stressed. Ploughing 14-16 cm deep every year is effective on new land against Scirpus spp. whereas ploughing 20-22 cm deep is necessary on land under cultivation for some years past.
