A forecasting system for UK grain and oilseed imports

A forecasting system for UK grain and oilseed imports

Bulletin, Department of Agricultural Economics, University of Manchester (179): 145

The basic aim was to develop a structural econometric model capable of forecasting net UK imports of wheat, barley, maize and soybeans for up to five years ahead. This needed a model which could explain domestic supply of grains, all types of demand (food, feed, stocks and seed) and the level of grain and feed systems. The explanation of livestock feed demand in turn required a subsystem to explain changes in livestock numbers on UK farms.
