A note on the efficacy of continuous v. limited boar exposure on puberty attainment in the gilt

A note on the efficacy of continuous v. limited boar exposure on puberty attainment in the gilt

Animal Production 31(2): 205-207

30 Large White X (Landrace X Large White) gilts were allocated to 3 treatments such that 1 gilt from each of 10 litters was on each treatment. The treatments were: (1) continuous exposure to a boar; (2) 30-min exposure daily to a boar; (3) non-exposure to a boar (controls). The experiment began when the gilts were aged 165 days, and continued until either puberty was detected or 250 days of age was reached.
