A study of the effect of restricted feeding on gain and carcass quality for finishing pigs

A study of the effect of restricted feeding on gain and carcass quality for finishing pigs

Liaoning Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine Liaoning Xumu Shouyi (Special issue of swine): 31-33

In crossbred pigs, initially weighing 60 kg and finishing at 90 kg, those fed on a basal diet to appetite gained 1 kg/day and finished in 32 days, while those fed at 75% of free intake gained at 71.5% of the rate in unrestricted pigs and finished 9 days later. Pigs fed at 65% of free intake gained at 58.9% of the rate in unrestricted pigs and finished 16 days later. Lean meat percentages were 43.03%, 41.81% and 39.35%, respectively.
