Shoot terminals that were expected to differentiate fruit buds were collected periodically from 25-year-old trees of the mango Alphonso. Data are tabulated on the content of 14 amino acids at the 3 stages. Amino acids markedly increased, both qualitatively and quantitatively, during fruit bud differentiation. Their levels declined after the emergence of flower panicles.
