Assiut Veterinary Medical Journal 7(13-14): 333-338

ISSN/ISBN: 1012-5973

On a farm in upper Egypt 45 of 300 Oseemy sheep showed skin lesions typical of ringworm, located mostly on the head around the ears, nose, eyes and horns. Dermatophytes were found in 75.5% of skin crust and hair samples examined. Trichophyton verrucosum was the predominant sp. isolated, followed by T. mentagrophytes and T. terrestre. The sheep were treated successfully with 0.5 g/45 kg body wt. griseofulvin given with feed and by injection of vitamin A intramuscularly.
