The F2s derived by selfing from the F1 from crossing an individual of P. mollissimum ( female ) with P. americanum '23DB', 'Ligui' and 'Massue', and were studied for 35 characters. All three F2s had some plants with abnormal development which did not flower; those from Ligui had the fewest, those from Massue the most. Those from Ligui had the highest proportion of plants insensitive to photoperiod.
