Behaviour of honey bee workers on major pollen sources in Giza region

Behaviour of honey bee workers on major pollen sources in Giza region

Annals of Agricultural Science, Moshtohor 12: 379-384

Pollen traps on 4 hives were emptied daily for a year, and the pollen was weighed and identified. The results showed that there were 4 main pollen sources in the area: (a) April to June, Egyptian clover (Trifolium alexandrinum) (total weight trapped averaged 401 g/colony); (b) July to October, maize (Zea mays) (258 g); (c) November to January, broad bean (Vicia faba) (29 g); (d) February to April, wild mustard (Brassica kaber) (113 g).
