Breakdown in immunity to Ranikhet disease (Newcastle disease) with infectious bursal disease (Gumboro disease) in broiler chicks

Breakdown in immunity to Ranikhet disease (Newcastle disease) with infectious bursal disease (Gumboro disease) in broiler chicks

Indian Veterinary Journal 57(4): 265-269

Heavy losses in chicks due to Newcastle disease were reported on 7 broiler farms near Bombay containing 5000 to 50 000 birds. In all farms, chicks 3-7 weeks old were affected. Morbidity and mortality was higher in deep-litter than in cage-reared birds. Mortality ranged from 5-20%. All birds had been vaccinated. PM and serological investigations revealed infectious bursitis in all cases.
