The levels of total free amino acid, aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase in the hepatopancreas were significantly lower (142.64 plus or minus 17.49 mu g/ml, 12.3 plus or minus 0.39 SF units/ml and 16.1 plus or minus 0.68 SF units/ml respectively) in Melanoides tuberculatus infected with Pleurolophocercus than in uninfected snails (228.86 plus or minus 21.75 mu g/ml, 14.5 plus or minus 0.43 SF units/ml and 18.2 plus or minus 0.74 SF units/ml, respectively).
