Comparative activity of methacrifos and chlorpyrifos-methyl used in the laboratory against the grain weevil (Sitophilus granarius)

In the laboratory in France, methacrifos applied at 2.5 mg/kg grain for the control of actual infestation by Sitophilus granarius (L.) in stored wheat appeared as effective as chlorpyrifos-methyl (the standard treatment) applied at the same rate, methacrifos appearing more active against stages of the weevil within the grains and chlorpyrifos-methyl against the insects that had left the grains.
