Seed of peach rootstock INRA GF 305 needed at least 70 days cold treatment (+5 deg C) after imbibition for normal germination and to produce plants with normal leaves. Only 30 days cold treatment was required if the seed coat was removed. When seeds with the seed coat intact were soaked for 24 h in benzylaminopurine (BA) at 200 mg/litre normal germination occurred without cold treatment in just over 4 days.
