On the basis of a study of over 200 cultivars of the above taxa, 37 morphological characters are distinguished for use in infraspecific classification. The botanical varieties studied are briefly characterized; the most widespread under cultivation appeared to be vars. dinurum and plinianum of T. turgidum and var. hordeiforme of T. durum.
