Control of Sorghum halepense (L) Pers. and other weeds by a combination of herbicides and soil cultivations in sugar-cane

Control of Sorghum halepense (L) Pers. and other weeds by a combination of herbicides and soil cultivations in sugar-cane

Ciencias de la Agricultura (5): 109-124

Results are given of an experiment on a red ferralitic soil where the dominant weeds were S. halepense and Rottboellia exaltata. When 4 ploughings were made during seedbed preparation the destruction of S. halepense rhizomes led to a marked reduction in infestation with no corresponding increase in broad-leaved weeds.
