Control of Sorghum halepense and other weeds by soil cultivation and herbicide application in sugar cane

Ploughing at four 30-day intervals prior to planting, followed by dalapon (10.8 kg/ha) with 2,4-D (1.15 kg/ha) application 21 days after planting, reduced S. halepense in fields of sugar cane B. 4362, fifty days after planting, from 61.1 in unploughed untreated fields to 12.5 plants/m2. The numbers of Rottboellia exaltata and Cyperus rotundus plants/m2 were also reduced.
