Control of brush regrowth with herbicides on pine plantations in northern California

Control of brush regrowth with herbicides on pine plantations in northern California

Research Paper, Pacific Southwest Forest and Range Experiment Station, USDA Forest Service (PSW-134): 13

The results are reported of a study of brush control in 3 areas dominated by deerbrush (Ceanothus integerrimus) or greenleaf manzanita (Arctostaphylos patula) using repeated spraying with 2,4-D and 2,4,5-T in 1962-5. Timing of application and dosages were varied. The results suggest that 3-4 lb/acre is an effective and adequate dosage and that spraying should start within 2 yr of land clearance. The frequency of repeats will be determined by land use objectives.
