Control of parturition: influence of flumethasone/dexamethasone and the beta-adrenergic agent Planipart on parturition, puerperium and rate of conception

Experiments were carried out in 80 heifers at a farm with a history of fertility problems. Three groups, each of 20 animals, were treated; the remaining group served as control. Groups 1 and 2 were injected i/m with 3.5 mg flumetasone or 7.5 mg dexamethasone, respectively, 14 days before estimated date of parturition; if parturition did not take place within seven days, the dose was repeated. The third group was injected i/m with 200 mu g clenbuterol during parturition.
