Control of soilborne pathogens by solar heating in plastic houses

Mulching with polyethylene sheets (0.05 mm thick) increased the yield of a susceptible tomato (to several soilborne pathogens including Fusarium sp., Pyrenochaeta lycopersici, Verticillium dahliae, Rhizoctonia solani and Sclerotium rolfsii) by > 100%, compared with 300% by fumigation with methyl bromide.
